Last night we done our (very) little part to support the #wemakeevents campaign to highlight the terrible position facing the events industry.
The idea was to highlight venues etc in red, because it really is a RED ALERT for the industry. We were privileged to uplight the fantastic marquee at The Black Horse in Beamish – normally a bustling wedding venue, now sat empty !! After this we joined in with a car meet with many other event suppliers in the area from the North East.
Not many people realise how huge the industry is and how EVERYONE will have benefited from it at some point in their life whether it is a wedding, seeing a band in a pub, going to a concert, the theatre, pantomime ………… The list goes on.
So many other industries also rely on the events industry from catering, ticket distribution, artists themselves……….. again, the list goes on.
As it stands the events industry have had NO SUPPORT during the coronavirus pandemic, even though they are the first to close and last to open. So many, like ourselves, are small businesses who come together to make something huge – but as a small business we have not had a penny of help for our business, with outgoings still having to be met.
No help, no support and to put the final nail in the coffin, we have no guidance as to when we can start up, with the UK government even saying we are unviable businesses (wonder if that means they will not be wanting our tax bill paid then ??)
So please if you can share and support this, if not then PLEASE just stop and think what a huge contribution the events industry makes not only to the economy but to your lifes pleasures !!
