A year ago today thing drastically changed for us, not forever, but it does seem like forever at the moment.
This Sunday last year we had finished what we now know was our last Wedding Disco for a long, long time. The phone was ringing and emails pinging in faster than ever before, however this was unfortunately couples ringing to postpone their wedding as opposed to book. In fact, on the Sunday and Monday we dealt with more postponements than we have ever done since we started.
Now a year on and we STILL do not have clear guidance on how we can return, instead we are having to focus on smaller weddings from 12th April until the 21st June when hopefully we can return to normal.
It isn’t all doom and gloom though. The piggy bank was raided to ensure personally I had enough money to survive what we thought was going to be around 3 months without work – this was no problem, but 15 months without working is a little more challenging.
So, after a couple of temp jobs I have setup another business – www.cmdpattesting.co.uk – which is something I am aiming to carry on once things do return, albeit will have to staff it instead of undertaking the work personally so I can concentrate on weddings.
Once things started to ease a little, work was available outdoors, in pubs/clubs, private parties etc. Having always maintained ‘Weddings are what we do best’ focus was instead on what we can do for intimate weddings which can go ahead – hence our Social Distance Package was launched – https://www.ultimateweddingdj.co.uk/covid-friendly-wedding-celebrations-social-distancing/ . This package proved very popular and truly is fantastic value for money. Whilst we could not survive financially purely from this package it did mean most weekends, we were still out providing wedding services.
A lot of the things we are offering in our Social Distance Package was even more popular than we first realised and something we are looking to grow via a new grand package which we are almost ready to announce.
Looking ahead too, we are about fully booked this year with 2022 not too far behind. It is really heart-warming that the past few weeks have been manic with new bookings as far ahead as 2024.
So, whilst we are ready to return, we are also determined to react and change if/where necessary. Hopefully we can get back to seeing YOU and your friends packing the dancefloor very soon, but if this does have to be put on hold a little longer, rest assured you can still have a fantastic, fun and memorable wedding day with us as:
